We took my little girl who has been poorly for around 3 weeks now to a&e as we were becoming more and more worried about her as the day went on, we had to wait around 2 and a half hours to see a doctor which wouldn't have been a problem if we had been put in a bay with a trolley in it so that she had somewhere to lie down.
However the triage nurse left us in a bay with a plastic chair and pulled the curtains round. She was quite chilled out at first but then began to become increasingly distressed, I went to find someone to ask for water for her and to see about getting a trolley in the bay or going somewhere with one as she was restless being held and getting uncomfortably warm, her nappy also needed changed.
It took a while to track someone down and they said they would bring water, ask where we were on the list and get us a trolley. We never saw them again. After a while I went to ask again and we finally got some water.
By this point I had to put her blanket and my jacket on the floor to change her nappy, while I was doing this the doctor finally arrived. I have pictures of her lying on the floor and I really don't think this was acceptable. I understand there is a waiting time but she is a baby and I feel she was left too long with no one coming back to check that she was OK.
The doctor in a&e was really good I have to say and he referred us on to ward 15 which is the children's ward. The second complaint I have is to do with the attitude of 2 particular staff members. The nurse who dealt with us in the short stay area and a nursing assistant. I won't go into more detail here but I would like to make a formal complaint and show someone the pictures I have.
