Having just been a patient in the Elective Orthopaedic Centre at Epsom I felt I needed to record my experience following hip replacement surgery.
From the moment I arrived, greeted by the helpful, friendly receptionist, everything programmed and so efficient.
Patients greeted by smiling, happy nursing staff, taken to cubicles to prepare for surgery.
This certainly makes one relax.
Was I really going in for surgery?
Anaesthetist, surgeon and theatre staff visited.
Details checked at every stage.
Questions were invited and all procedures fully explained before consent requested.
Care and comfort was the order of the day.
In PACU I was well cared for ensuring I was well enough to be handed over to Oaks Ward.
A seamless progression.
The same high standard, staff worked as a team, introducing themselves.
Patient comfort, care and a pain free stay as much as possible was the order of the day.
Meals chosen and ordered, water jug changed regularly, medication discussed and suggestions made on how your stay and recovery could be made better.
They are all wiling you a speedy recovery and a return to normality. Following surgery and a sore wound
X-ray aim to make this as comfortable as possible.
Bells are answered quickly with a nurse quietly gliding in during the night.
Your privacy and dignity is their number one concern.
Discharge went smoothly with all paperwork and medication waiting.
Information booklets and an Advice Line number have proved invaluable and the info provided by the nurse responding second to none.
A truly wonderful team.
