About: Adult Mental Health - Doncaster

(as the patient),

I got diagnosed with bi-polar 4yrs go, I've also been diagnosed with four other mental illness's which includes a personality disorder. I have struggled all of my life and it's been a long standing battle.

In oct '09', I had a breakdown whilst at work. I was very distraught and had feeling's that scared me, I felt desperate and suicidal. As a result, I decided 2 ring up the crisis team, I more or less begged, pleaded for someone to come out and see me. Their response was to say there's nobody available, fortunately for me I have very supportive parents and so I went home and they looked after me.

A week later I had another relapse, again I rung the crisis team. Once again I begged for somebody to come out to me. I was told, that there was nobody available.

I'm very concerned about how the crisis team handles, or not, as it would seem, mentally ill patients. Somthing needs to be done. It feels to me diabolical how people with mental illness are treated!!

Dear Rayoflight

I am very concerned to hear of the difficulties you and your family had when trying to get help last year from the Crisis Team.

The Crisis Team in Doncaster is resourced and staffed to respond 24 hours per day 7 days a week 365 days per year, so again I am disappointed yet surprised to find out that “no-one” was available to assess you.

I would appreciate it if you could contact me directly to discuss your individual case as it is important that we understand the difficulties you encountered and that we can then work with the particular team to improve the patient's journey.
