"I would like more activities"

About: St Andrew's Healthcare Birmingham / Hazelwell

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

There has been a massive difference in my care between Northampton Site and Birmingham Site. There is so much more to do in Northampton.Since coming to Birmingham it is a lot smaller, there is less to do here. There is less opportunity to prove myself to the MDT that I can engage

I have to think more about self-planned activities. There is only so many times you can do the same thing on the ward. When we get the Events Co-ordinator there will be so much more to do. I am looking forward to this and I think a lot of the staff are too.

Thank you for sharing your insights and also the comparison you have made between Northampton and Birmingham sites. I would be interested to hear more about this as it may help us to identify further improvements. You told us that it would be better if there was more to do. You have also indicated that the appointment of the Events Co-ordinator will help achieve a wider range of activities across the site. I agree that this is an exciting appointment and that it will make a substantial difference for everyone.

We will give the new person time to settle into the role. After a period of time the Patient Experience Team will visit your site again to find out if this new role has made a difference

Best wishes

Sophia Feurtado

Head of Patient Experience

I am pleased to inform you that the Events coordinator commenced in role today. We will give this person time to settle in then speak with patients to see how the role has made a difference to activities at your site. I would appreciate you continuing to give us your perspective of how things are progressing.
