"Chilgrove ward and upper GI department"

About: St Richard's Hospital / General surgery

I want to thank all involved in my care over the last few months. My surgeon and their team, the anestetic team, who were amazing, I was very concerned about having an operation they were very reassuring can't remember much after the drugs were given. I do remember being in recovery and being looked after by one member of staff, who I must say has said lots to me which I can't remember everything sorry. Once on the ward I was so impressed by the care of all the nursing staff to me and all the other members of the team. In my room one nurse stood out, the hcs were also lovely especially one. I was was very impressed by one member of staff who encouraging a patient to eat and fed her to help her. I was rather disappointed by one of the staff who made tea with milk in the teapot which did not give us a choice in how we took our tea. It reminded me of scout camp tea yuck. The member of staff also left the tea in a position that some patients could not reach. But I am sure they could be trained to consider patients needs. Now to my surgeon's admin staff - very efficient thank you. Overall St Richard Hospital excellent, thank you xx

Thank you for your comments and for the lovely feedback about your surgeon, our staff in theatres, the admin staff and the team on Chilgrove. We will share this with everyone involved and ensure the ward sister on Chilgrove feeds this back to her staff and discusses the very valid points you make about the all important cup of tea.

We hope you are making a good recovery from your surgery and thank you again for taking the time to post your comments which is very much appreciated by all of us.
