"Lack of basic hygiene when giving eye drops"

About: Crawley Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

Three months ago, at Crawley Hospital, before eye drops were put into my mother's eyes, the nurse did not use anti-bacterial hand cleaner even though she had some on her belt.

Seven years ago at The Queen Victoria Hospital at East Grinstead, the nurses always used the anti-bacterial hand cleaner before putting drops in my mother's eyes.

Totally inadequate. I think there is obviously not enough training or supervision.
