"Care for my Dad...and us as his family"

About: Airedale NHS Foundation Trust

We were given the diagnosis of terminal lung cancer in Feb this year but Dad was offered some palliative chemotherapy. It's been a difficult journey but each visit and communication with services at Airedale have been excellent and much appreciated at such a time of turmoil. From the greetings in out patients by the friendly helpers there to the phlebotomy staff and in a lovely environment too. Special mention to the consultant and their wonderful secretary who always helped with appointment changes to accommodate us. Thanks also to the teams within the radiology dept who always treated Dad with dignity and respect and there was never long to wait for pharmacy either. Most of all to the amazing staff of HODU, they work with professionalism and integrity under tremendous duress in a sadly not fit for purpose areas now due to the sheer numbers of patients/relatives. The care has simply been outstanding. A jewel in Airedale's crown- be great to sort out better parking! As a NHS professional myself it made me very proud to be on the receiving end of quality care from our local facility- people will always be what matters most- and its Airedale's people that provide that care. Well done to all.

Please accept our sincere condolences during this extremely sad time. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, it is heart-warming to hear that our staff provided you and your Dad with the support and dignity that was required with such compassion and sensitivity.

The Trust is working towards improved parking facilities and the HODU services are currently under review, exploring options for a larger department.
