I had elective surgery at Day Surgery in William Harvey Hospital and from start of admission I felt in safe hands - thanks to Graeme and his team. The surgeon Mr Theoki was calm and made me feel calm. My first memory was awakening in the recovery room feeling hot and bothered and the 2 lovely recovery nurses got me a fan and telephoned my husband. The nurses on Rotary Ward were all great and special thanks to Staff Nurse Gift who beautifully introduced herself to me and my husband at the start if her night by saying "hello my name is Gift and I will be looking after you tonight..." And she did.
I was discharged home the following day with very clear post op instructions. Unfortunately I had two emergency admissions back to ward over the next few days but the doctors and nurses who I saw on each occasion were kind, professional and reassuring. Special thanks to nurses Jackie, Kenny, Jackie, Gift, Ben, Nicole who all made my stay as pleasant as possible. The ward receptionist Sara and housekeepers were also good. On discharge I again felt reassured and knew that I could call at any time I had further issues.
