My daughter had a minor sports injury to her hand and I rang 111 for advice. Was misdirected by 111 to Minor Injuries/Urgent Care at Shotley Bridge after I declined to go to Bishop Auckland (following negative past experiences) and being told there was no Minor Injuries/Urgent Care listed at Durham hospital, where I had planned to go. Was allocated a 7.15pm appointment at Shotley Bridge and I explicitly checked with 111 whether it would be possible to have an X-ray after hours at Shotley Bridge if needed and told it would be. When we arrived at Shotley Bridge we were seen quickly and efficiently by a nurse, but were told unfortunately 111 had not advised us correctly and it was not possible to have an X-ray at Shotley Bridge after 5pm. We were advised therefore to come back in the morning or go to Durham as I had originally planned, before been redirected by 111. Although frustrated by 111 poor advice, and us having travelled many miles, the nurse at Shotley Bridge could not have been more efficient, professional and friendly and eased the whole situation. Thank you. Great service at Shotley Bridge - but should not be having their time wasted by 111 misinformation. Lucy (& Lily).
