I was advised that I was eligible for treatment by greenlight laser instead of the traditional operation. I was actually phone by the consultant who talked through the options. This was impressive. Having chosen this treatment I had to wait longer but felt this to be beneficial. I was seen twice before the actual admission date, for scans and general health matters. On admission I went to the admissions lounge which was welcoming and comfortable considering the fact it was just literally for waiting. I was later invited to meet the nurse for blood checks etc., the anesthetist and the consultant. All were very pleasant, giving me time and putting me at ease in a relaxed and yet professional manner. This was a mark i found with all the staff in the hospital and one that seems to have been working into the core of the establishment.. I was then admitted to the urology ward, where again I was treated extremely well. From there I progressed through to the waiting area for the operation, where I was really helped to feel relaxed in what is naturally a stressful time. The operation I can't comment on for obvious reasons, but have every faith that this was excellently performed. The recovery room was again a pleasant experience, although memories are somewhat 'muzzy'. On reaching the ward I was given a bed with a view, tea and even later a three course meal before leaving to go home. I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff I met, and for the excellent care I received. At a time when the NHS is very much under strain I experienced only the best of care. Well done to everyone.
