"Outstanding service at the Stroke unit"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Stroke care (Wards 56 and 68)

(as a relative),

My mother has been very well and healthy all her life and until her stroke 3 months go was driving, playing bridge and bowls and was a very independent lady.

Following her severe stroke she was admitted to the stroke unit at the QEUH where she was given outstanding service. She was subsequently moved to ward 57 in the therapy/recovery wing where she could not have had better treatment in every respect. She had made a significant recovery of her faculties but has sadly lost the use of her left leg. She was discharged last friday and has move from her house into a care home.

I work in a small team within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. Part of the team’s role is to support patients and carers through our feedback systems which will help to improve the services we provide. On Patient Opinion, I support Lorna Gray, Patient Experience Public Involvement Project Manager, and Niall McGrogan, Head of Patient Experience Public Involvement.

Dear camb

Thank you for taking the time to post on Patient Opinion. I am sorry to read about your mother's stroke, this must have been a difficult time for her. I am heartened to read that about her care whilst in the stroke unit and ward 57 in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

I will ensure that your kind words are shared with the staff of the stroke unit and ward 57.

Best wishes
Lisa
