"Really positive experience of maternity care and birth"

I gave birth to my daughter in May this year after a somewhat complicated pregnancy and an induction. The support we had throughout the pregnancy and during delivery and afterwards has been very positive and has made the whole experience feel calm, controlled and very special.

During the pregnancy I had a recurrence of previous mental health issues and developed gestational diabetes and anaemia. This meant I ended up signed off work and had to have an induction at 39 weeks and at times the whole experience was quite stressful and distressing.

I had great support from the community midwives, perinatal mental health specialist, antenatal clinic and day assessment unit during the pregnancy and during delivery the midwives were amazing supporting us really calmly and professionally but never making us feel we were being pushed into any decisions or procedures.

We were also well supported to establish feeding on Percy Phillips ward by the transitional care and ward teams and I was especially impressed across the service by the large number of great midwifery students and their input.

If there is a way to feedback to specific teams and individuals it would be great to be able to do so as we would really like to let them know how much we appreciated their support.
