"Bluebell & Sorrell ward"

About: Prospect Park Hospital

something is not right at Bluebell and Sorrell ward, there is no consistency to the Phsychiatrist team, especially in Sorrell they change psychiatrists like they change underwear, when it is crucial for the recovery of mental health patients to have continuity and not distabilize an already very unstable illness. In general the hospital treats the patients more like inmates, my daughters health has deteriorated every time she is at bluebell and Sorrell, a young boy ran away from sorrell and comitted suicide whilst my daughter was there, his lost face haunts me to this day, at that time my daughter was under a section 3 and very unwell, i decided to act on my right as the closest relative and discharge my daughter from that nightmare of a ward. My daughter is still unwell after various hospitalizations at prospect park i think she has been traumatized & mentally damaged for good, she has changed I dont think i will ever get the same girl back.

Hello,

Thank you for your posting. I am sorry that you were unhappy with your daughter's care at Prospect Park Hospital. I have been in touch with our Inpatient Services Manager and there has been no change to the medical cover on Bluebell Ward for some time.

There will be changes with doctors in training at least every six months with some trainees rotating every 4 months.Sorrel Ward has had a significant turnover of medical staff in the last year.

However, the current Consultant has been in post since August 2016 and the Speciality Doctor in post since June 2016.

Can you contact me directly to discuss the care of your daughter and a way forward? Alternatively, you could contact your local Healthwatch organisation for assistance. Contact details can be found on our website www.berkshirehealthcare.nhs.uk

Yours Sincerely,
