"Blood test"

About: Orsett Hospital

Went for a blood test 26/10/16, when I got there I found that the system had changed you now have to book an appointment time on-line. I don't remember being lnformed by the doctor or hospital admin about this so a bit miffed. The best bit is being told you have a 1 to 2 hour wait as all the people who have booked appointments whether arrived or not will go before you. This is fine if you are young but most of the people there were elderly and frail, also whoever the genius is that designed the seating arrangement does not live on the same planet previously the seating was arranged that everybody was facing the next patient board ,now they are set so that every patient has to look sideways to see the board and by the time they are seen they have painful necks. Instead of spending thousands of pounds on so called design companies why not ask the people that pay and have to use the hospital what they would like to see in place and what sort of system would be better for them.

Thank you for your recent comments regarding blood tests at Orsett Hospital.

The appointment booking system has been in place for some time.

Walk-in patients are seen in the department, however this does often result in a longer waiting time.

GPs are aware of the booking system which can be done on-line or by telephone, and the details are also on the Trust website.

We note your comments about the seating in the department which has been this way for over eight months.

The electronic board that was installed at the time the system was changed over has now been moved to above the door.

There are plans for a redesign of the area in the near future and your comments will be incorporated in the plans.

Please note, patient representatives will be involved in the redesign.
