"Wonderful treatment within A and E"

About: NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

My 16year old son had been suffering from headaches for 3 days which were not being successfully treated with routine pain killers. he then started vomiting and had rigors. NHS 24 directed me to take him to A and E at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Glasgow.

My son and I were afforded wonderful care and attention. the triage nurse recognised although, a young adult, my son was distressed and accommodated me within the consultation.

The consultant provided person centred care and explained his care plan to my son and was interested in hearing my sons history.

All investigations were completed within a few hours and portering staff as well as health care professionals were pleasant and caring towards my son and I.

Dear Mrs McEaston

Thank you for taking the time to post on Patient Opinion. I am sorry to read that your son was so unwell that he had to visit the A&E department at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, this must have been a very worrying time for you and your son.

I would like to echo the words of Shona on how well services work together. I am pleased to read that your son received person centred care and that you were included in your son's care.

I will ensure that your kind words are shared with the staff in the A&E department, they will be pleased to receive such positive feedback.

I hope your son is now doing well.

Best wishes
Lisa
