My daughter was referred onto the Pain Management clinic by the Neurology Dept in April and was finally seen in October. During the consultation the Doctor was very thorough, very pleasant and listened to my daughter. He outlined our options and his recommended course of treatment - excellent service!
The course of treatment recommended was Acupuncture, my daughter was asked to fill out pain diaries for 3 months, at this time he told us they would be useful as would help show improvement or otherwise of the Acupuncture treatment. We left him, and were directed to a desk to arrange the appointment.
The first available appointment we were offered was mid January, greater than 3 months (18 weeks referral to treatment? ? ), and clearly outwith the time of her pain diaries.
It would be helpful if consultants were aware of timescales to treatment, so that during discussions it was clear, I was left wondering if the consultant had any idea that my daughter would not receive any treatment until 2017.
