Our 9yr daughter went in on Friday to have her tonsils removed and we would like to thank all the staff, from consultants, doctors, nurses and all support staff in the surgical ward for the care that she received during her overnight stay.
The theatre staff were brilliant as due to her fear of needles she was keen on getting the venflon before the operation. But the anaesthetist and his team were great at distracting her and getting her to sleep without any problems. She even now says that she didn't feel anything!
I would also like to give a special thanks and mention to the member of staff, that went above and beyond for me as I went over at 6:55, starving, not realising that it shut at 7pm and didn't have a card machine. She made sure that got something hot to eat and nothing was a problem for her.
Which leads me to the only two negatives that I have about RACH, the lack of cash machine facilities and the opening hours of the shops in the building. I was lucky because my daughter is at the age where if she was sleeping she didn't mind me having to nip across to ARI. There has been a time when I was in with my younger daughter who didn't want me to leave for more than 5-10 mins at a time.
All in all our recent experience has been an excellent one, if you can have one when your child is in hospital and even when short staffed were willing to do their best. Thank you.
