"Excellent care whilst in-patient following surgery"

About: Royal Berkshire Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

I must express my gratitude to all the staff who looked after me during my recent stay. Having arrived at 7am I wasn't taken to theatre until 2pm and the staff where excellent, as I was struggling to sit they found me somewhere to lie down which I was very grateful for.

Recovery and ward staff were excellent as well.It was obvious to see the pressure nurses on the ward are under yet they always smilled, had a chat without being made to feel rushed.

What I was horrified by was the way other patients treated the staff, I realise they are sick, possibly seriously ill, but demanding only a female nurse to look after them, then complaining the nurse left her too long before returning to take the bed pan away...

The nurse had the patience of a saint dealing with her. My only grip was when I got moved beds there was a previous patient's "ted stocking" sitting next to the lock!

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide such lovely feedback. It is always good to hear when, as a multi-disciplinary team, we are able to meet the expectations of our patients. The matron for the area will ensure the teams involved have access to your kind words and consider how we can improve our patient experience even further for the future.
