"Better patient care needed"

About: Countess Of Chester Hospital / Pain Management

(as the patient),

After being admitted in March 2008, I was then being reviewed by the Pain Management Team as an outpatient.

I thought that the consultant was not patient with me as I felt he continually ignored what I was advising him as far as my illness and symptoms were concerned. It seemed to me he was happy to leave me, a 21 year old woman at that point, on Morphine and Tramadol. I continually told him I didn't like being on these medications and he continually refused to take me off them or even give me a referral to a clinic he kept mentioning which dealt with people in my situation.

I eventually got a referral to The Walton Center via my GP and when the consultant found out, he said to me he wouldn’t see me again if I continued to see a specialist Neurologist at Walton. This is despite suffering from a neurological condition.

I have heard similar stories from others who have been to the Pain Management team at Chester and I would be hesitant to recommend them to anyone I know.
