I visited eye clinic a and e and was given eye drops for an eye ulcer/infection. I was given dilating drops to be used three times a day but noticed that one drop would last the entire day.
I wanted to speak to someone about what I should do however it is impossible to get a anyone to answer the phone having tried numerous numbers! I tried a and e, direct line to the nurses, even outpatients. It was a really simple query that I don't think is worth presenting at the eye clinic about. However it is impossible to get any advice over the phone. I work in an NHS hospital in pharmacy and we always endeavour to answer the phone! I think the staff need training in this area - how to deal with non-urgent and urgent calls and prioritisation! Instead of just ignoring the phone! It is very frustrating and I now have to wait until my next appointment to tell them that I haven't been using my drops as prescribed. Very disappointed.
