My Mum died after having a heart operation. We weren't told the full extent of her condition before she agreed to the operation and the mortality rate given was incorrect. My Mum's operation was delayed seven years by a consultant at the MRI which resulted in problems with the rest of her organs until she was not strong enough to survive the operation.
During the week the staff were good, but at the weekends they were bad.She was a coeliac and this was discussed before admission. Her operation was at 2pm on Thursday so she was nil by mouth from midnight. The "food" she was given before such a serious operation was a boiled egg and some lettuce leaves to give her energy from around 8pm to 1pm the next day.
Then after death a nurse ripped the skin off my Mum's cheek while removing a breathing tube causing distress to my entire family resulting in psychological problems. I feel disgusted and traumatised.
