"Visit to Minor Injuries Unit"

About: Newark Hospital

(as the patient),

I visited Newark Minor Injuries unit for a foot injury. I initially saw my GP who advised A and E but I felt MIU was more appropriate. I was telling the doctor in MIU about what had happened and they cut me off and looked at my mother and said "who's this? " I explained it was my mother, they then said to my mum "oh well she's explained she went to the GP but not what they said"- I was halfway through telling them what had happened! The doctor spoke of their annoyance that the GP had not just sent me for an X-Ray and had asked me to visit a hospital instead.
I didn't feel listened to and felt humiliated.
