"Awesome staff, but long wait that was dangerous for a diabetic"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital / Colorectal surgery

(as the patient),

I went to Royal Bolton, for a colonoscopy, staying on ward D2. I really appreciated the friendliness of the staff. However, I was no happy about the availability of beds. I was not admitted until four hours after my appointment time. Is there really a bed manager? Also, there was no hot water at the wash basins. I am diabetic and require two injections of insulin a day, in addition to metformin tablets. Due to the apparent delay of my colonoscopy until 3pm I missed the first injection that day. Also, I did not have any food or drink for twenty four hours, which very nearly caused my to have a 'hypo'.

I would like to thank the awesome staff on ward D2.
