"Cancer Care - Lanarkshire Beatson"

About: The Lanarkshire Beatson

(as the patient),

I have recently gone through a course of radiotherapy for prostate cancer at the Lanarkshire Beatson.

From the first time entering the building there was a sense of calm. The receptionist (Sharon) escorted me to the waiting area on the first day and every visit after greeted me each time I arrived. I was treated by a team of seven radiographers. Each one every bit as friendly and professional as the other. Every visit (except one when the machine broke down) was within ten minutes of my appointment time. Each week I had a consultation with one of two specialist nurses (Jo and Julie) who gave assurance and advice and further help from two other nurses (Catherine & Lillian).

For someone who has in their life had very little to do with hospitals I fount the experience very re-assuring that we have such professionals working in our Scottish NHS service.

Dear Carluke Jack

Thank you for taking the time to post on Patient Opinion. I am pleased to read that you found your care at the Lanarkshire Beatson to be positive. What I am especially pleased to read is the way in which that care was provided to you in terms of friendliness, providing assurance to you and the advice that you need, at what I am sure was a difficult time for you.

Thank you for your kinds words about our staff. I will ensure they are shared with the service and the staff will be delighted to receive such positive feedback.

I would like to wish you well following your treatment.

Best wishes
Lisa
