I visited A&E during the early hours this spring as I was experiencing concerning chest pains. I do not regularly seek medical treatment and am generally in fair health. The receptionist was friendly and told me to go through to the triage desk, which I did, however no one took any notice of me. Eventually someone asked me if I was ok and I explained the receptionist had sent me through - I was then advised to sit in a plastic chair in the corridor and was sat there for quite a while listening to other patients shoting. A nurse then came to see me and provided excellent care, they were friendly and put me at ease during an ECG. A while later a doctor then came to talk to me. Unfortunately this part was a very negative experience. The doctor was smiling and kept asking me what I thought was the matter with me in a demanding way, despite me telling the doctor the first time that I didn't know and that was why I had come to the hospital. I am well educated person whose parents have both worked for the NHS previously, however I was made to feel uncomfortable and like I was very stupid.
