"lack of information regarding what to expect after the operation"

I recently had an inguinal hernia repair at Tameside hospital in Greater Manchester and this appears to have been a total success. The surgeon and theatre staff and the day ward staff were all excellent. My only issue is with a lack of information regarding what to expect after the operation. I returned to work [light supervisory] after 10 days as I had no pain. The area of the groin, scrotum and inner thigh were actually still numb. I then started to get a burning sensation in the affected area, which became quite extreme at times. I checked on the web and discovered that other patients across the world described similar symptoms. These symptoms were severe for a couple of weeks, but have now reduced [not totally gone]. I took pain killers and used an ice-pack when necessary to ease the discomfort. I discovered a 'Get well soon' publication on the Royal College of Surgeons website, which is quite useful, although it doesn't mention this particular problem. Perhaps this could be issued to patients undergoing this type of surgery.
