Is my suffering less of a priority or my needs for support less than people who suffer psychosis?

I feel like Glasgow NHS Mental Health Services bounces' me back and forth. My GP earlier this year referred me to the CMHT at Shawpark Resource Centre. I would try to phone to find out how the referral was progressing. Then I was told the CMHT were not accepting the referral and I should go to GAMH.

I called GAMH and was told my GP would have to refer me to them. So I had to make another appointment to see my GP, who then had to make the referral to GAMH. I then had to wait to be seen by them.

There seems to be very little consideration on the impact on my life and my time being wasted. And while my life spirals further into dispair and crisis who is supporting me? Already overload GP!

Then there is the situation of Glasgow City Social Work who charged the interim charge of £26. 50 per wk for me attending the Charlie Reid Centre for 4weeks in April. I filled out a financial assessment form in January. I only found out in November 2014 that Social Work Services had stopped processing this form when CRC closed at the end of May.

Also where is my 'personalisation assessment' and why can I not get a copy of it? Because it was not done!

I will not have anything to do with Glasgow City Council Social Work Service until I get a proper apology.

But how much GG&C NHS and Glasgow City Social Work like to pass responsibility for the wellbeing, care and support of people like me back and forth then 'dumping' us at some voluntary services. Which may actually not be equiped or suitable to support us especially when we are not that well, but not ill enough to be in hospital!

I recently lost a Welfare Benefit and I find it difficult not to wonder why? Now I face more financial hardship, even more misery and stress!

Excuse me I don' t want 'answers!'. What I want to see is real change in the culture and attitudes. While there have been some individual members of staff who have been great, the biggest stigmatising attitudes I have encountered have been from staff of statutory services both NHS and Social Work Services.

People like myself find ourselves in the revolving door situation and buck passing situation of support and care. Joined up care and services seems to only happen when people are sectioned under the mental health act.

I would like to see some of these statutory services staff try to cope with some of the circumstances and situations that I have had to deal with. Then may be I will see how well their 'coping mechanisims' helped them manage things. Let them walk all in all sorts of weather because they are under the care of their GP and stuck on a level of welfare benefits that does not entitle them to a travel card or to be able to pay bus fares. How wonderful it is to be slashed by a passing car in the middle of winter and still having a half hour of walking before reaching home (just an example of my experiences).

I work as the Service Manager who has responsibility for Shawpark CMHT. I am very sorry to hear of your negative experience with this service. I would like to reassure you that your comments have been noted and that I will take steps to address some of the service issues that you have highlighted.

Although I do not have the full details, from the information you have provided I do feel that there has been inadequate information given to you by the team, specifically around the recommendation that your needs could be met by GAMH. From the information provided by you it would seem that this should have been explained more fully to you and also more information given to you as to how you could access this service.

Whilst I am very sorry for your negative experience in dealing with the team I hope you will be reassured that your comments will be used to help us improve any aspect of our service that have fallen short of the standards that we aim to achieve.
