I was referred to the Psychology Service from the Pain Service.
I found the service brilliantly helpful.
I had many individual sessions with a psychologist – these were a great help for my depression, and helped me feel better about myself.
I was shown how to hug myself. Like many blokes, I had been sceptical about ‘talking therapies’, but not now.
I also attended the Living with Pain Course which I found very useful – although some of the course seemed a bit ‘young’, it did make a difference to me – it was particularly good to meet up with people who have similar problems to myself.
I was sad when the course ended.
It may not be for everyone, but if offered the opportunity I would do it again.
That took me on to Mindfulness sessions provided by the psychology service – these again were great – super people who ran them and a great help with my life.
