"Mum stuck in hospital, waiting for a care package"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France

(as a relative),

My Mum is in her 80's and was admitted to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary 2 months ago. She was fit for discharge after 48 hours of admission, but she needs a bit more help at home so is waiting for a care package.

2 months later-still nothing and no one is able to tell me anything. The hospital dont know and social care dont know when someone will become available to offer this package.

This was the situation when I did my nurse training almost 30 years ago- why has this not improved? Has health and social care integration not helped at all?

I cant do as much as I'd like as I live an hour away from my Mum, and work full time (another hour away).
