After completing a grueling Tough Mudder I unfortunately sustained a bacterial infection in my elbow some three weeks later and after visiting my local pharmacist was referred to Crosshouse Hospital A&E near Kilmarnock Ayrshire. I was triaged and sent home with a course of Penicillin. After 24 hours the swelling had significantly worsened and I returned back and was immediately admitted to the new state of the art Ambulatory Care Ward under obs by Dr Gilroy and her team. From admission to discharge, I received intravenous drugs to stop the infection and had round the clock care from a team of dedicated professionals.
After discharge, I returned home to my family to recover with more antibiotics with a repeat outpatient visit at a time to suit myself the following week where I was seen without hesitation by Dr Gilroy who was happy with my progress and was given notification should any symptoms reoccur then to proceed straight back.
As a foot note I would say a tremendous thank you to Dr Gilroy and her staff of nurses and auxiliaries in the department who made my stay as comfortable as possible and gave me unsurpassed medical care. My recovery continues.
An outstanding service - well done.
Thanks and regards
