3 years ago, I was admitted to Ward 18 as an emergency case with what turned out to be a twisted bowel. This is a major surgical emergency and I was thankfully operated on by Mr. Kasem, consultant surgeon at the time.
Unfortunately I suffered complications 6 weeks later following surgery and was again admitted as an emergency for another more major operation. All in all, I was very ill, and was in hospital for 6 months in all having had a number of problems and setbacks on the way, including colitis.
However, my life was saved due to the fantastic skill of Mr. Kasem and my later care under the equally wonderful Ms. Thornton, all of which happily led to my recovery.
I now write to say I have today had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Kasem again, purely by chance, when I was down at WGH with my wife. I was delighted to see Mr. Kasem again and have to say he is a brilliant surgeon in my view (and an absolute gentleman! ! ). I must also once more thank the wonderful Ms. Thornton for her fantastic skill and care over many months which led to my full recovery. Please let these wonderful surgeons know that I will never forget them for saving my life! !
I also know I have been given a second chance at life and love every minute of it! !
"I will never forget them for saving my life!"
