"Cartilage tear"

About: NHS Highland (Health)

(as the patient),

A few months ago my knee had swollen up. I left it for a few weeks hoping it would subside but decided to go to my GP.

He confirmed that he believes it is a torn or damaged cartilage. Referred me to orthopaedics and said unfortunately it'll be 10 months before I'll even see a consultant. I went back a week later with severe and worsened pain in my knee to be told once again it'll be 10 months, no sooner! Nothing they can do!

Dear Budger,

I am very sorry to hear your story and for the personal difficulties you have experienced in accessing orthopaedic services. There are long waiting times currently within the service due to high demands, however any patients that require urgent access would be prioritised accordingly.

I am happy to have a conversation with you if this would be helpful to see if anything can be done to improve the situation for you.

I can be contacted on 01463 705087.

Katherine
