I had had an allergic reaction to the dreaded Scottish Midgie while staying in Skye last week. We left there at on Saturday and drove to Glasgow where we were staying until Monday morning before driving back home to the English Midlands. On Monday when I awoke I found my eye lids and the surrounding area had swollen to the point that my sight was affected and any thoughts of driving were out of the question. Our hotel told us we were only about 15 minutes walk to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. On arrival I was seen by a triage nurse within 10 - 15 minutes of arriving and then called through to the treatment area within another 15 minutes at most. I was seen by the Consultant on duty who was extremely helpful, explaining everything to me, gave me my medication and explained what each drug was for and how to use it. All the staff were considerate that I was a stranger to the area and I have nothing but praise for the way I was treated. I doubt whether a visitor from another area would find our local Hospital as helpful or considerate! Thank you.
