"Care varies considerably from ward to ward"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital

My 85 year old mother was admitted to critical care in May and then moved to ward 14. The staff in docc were exemplary and cannot be faulted. They were friendly, helpful and caring, nothing was to much trouble. However, when she moved to ward 14 the care she recieved was disappointing. She was told to get herself out of bed if she needed the toilet and no help was going to be given. She was weak and frail as a result of surgery and having lost a considerable amount of weight.

The attitude of certain nurses left her very upset and at a high risk of falling. Therefore we cannot recommend this hospital.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. It's great to hear how good the care on DoCC was and we are sorry that it wasn't carried through when your Mother moved to Ward 14. We would like to look into your concerns further to find out what happened. Could you please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on PALS@mkhospital.nhs.uk or call 01908 660033. Thank you.
