I visited an elderly relative today. The first three hand sanitation containers were empty at the entrance to Ward 21. My relative is experiencing incontinence as a result of their illness and did not feel they had been spoken to in a compassionate or kind manner when Being cleaned. A patient nearby struggled to breathe for an hour before anyone noticed and sat them up to relieve congestion. The visitor toilets were filthy with soiled toilet paper strewn on the floor. This was reported twice over the course of our 2 hour visit. I last visited the hospital ten years ago when my mother died there of a hospital acquired infection that did not respond to treatment. I was really concerened about what I witnessed today. It doesn't seem like much has changed in that time. You need to do much better than this in your care of the elderly. Compassion and cleanliness surely are the basis of all great care.
