I visited A&E for a suspected retinal tear which was confirmed, and I was given the earliest possible slot for the operation to repair it the following day. At every stage the options were carefully and clearly explained to me, and on admission I was told how long I would have to wait before having surgery, so I was always kept in the picture.
The medical and ward staff, although incredibly busy, were all helpful, warm and interested, and the ward staff kept those of us waiting for surgery supplied with tea and sympathy! I was also deeply impressed by the empathy and care with which they responded to a patient with learning difficulties.
I received outstanding care - this was the NHS at its best. Thank you, and the team should be justly proud of the conscientious and caring culture that they have created at the Eye Hospital.
