Receptionist was rather glum and gloomy. After a very short wait called into treatment area where I realised almost immediately I was in good, caring hands & that I could relax.
Receiving young female doctor treated me in such a competent and kind way as did the nursing staff.
Eventually taken to ward 4A where again I was received so caringly and made very comfortable. Even given tea and toast- I hadn't eaten for hours.
Sunday dawned. After the ward round I had a CT scan and an X ray. No waiting for either of these; radiographer was also very caring and described the procedure so well. Back to the ward within 30 minutes. Who says nothing happens in hospital on a Sunday? Staff in 4a worked so well together to keep the ward clean, to make sure observations were done kindly and look after us. The nursing student was so well directed by the Sister.
An admission during the night disturbed and distressed the other patients greatly: no ones fault but a treatment area for such an event would be good: staff dealing with patient were so patient and epitomised the best of nursing: they must have been exhausted at the end of their shift.
Food during my stay was excellent- amazing choice, well cooked, nicely presented and served hot as if it had come straight from the oven, Compliments to the chefs. No long wait for prescription in discharge lounge.
Leaving the hospital at the exit door was very difficult and dangerous due to parked, driverless cars double / treble parked - parking attendant needed?
Thank you to the staff of Crosshouse Hospital.
