"Errors on discharge"

About: North Downs Hospital

I was an orthopaedic day case. On discharge my summary said

.

1. I had heart failure

2. I had a pacemaker.

Neither of those comments were correct.

3 under allergies

I was allergic to sulphonomides ( a new type antibiotic). Sulphonamides were first used in the 1930.

4. No mention of another allergy an anticoagulation.

I called the bank nurse back and pointed out the errors, who took it to the nurses station and pointed it out to the nurse who I presumed had written the summary. I then went to sit in reception as it was quite cold in the day ward.

The bank nurse brought the amended summary back with a sorry about that.

This incident is not acceptable in any hospital. However, there were two day cases so not a lot of discharge summaries to compose.

I would have expected the author of the summary to apologies personally.
