I was sent for an MRI scan due to intermittent diplopia by an ophthalmology consultant at my last appointment on 1st December 2015.
I had the scan on 28th December, and as the consultant was not going to send for me again until 2 or three months later, I rang the secretary who, after speaking with my consultant, told me there was "nothing sinister" on the scan just "1 or 2 things" and that my consultant would make an appointment to discuss these.
I was initially reassured by this, but when I had not heard anything by the end of February I rang to be told that I was "down for March".
I heard nothing in March and rang again early April to be told that there was a note on my file saying that I had to have an MRI scan before my next appointment!
I explained that I had already had one in December.
The booking clerk then made some enquiries immediately and gave me an appointment.
I'm still awaiting this appointment, however, the fact that there has clearly been a mistake somewhere in the booking process and I still do not have the results of my MRI scan is now causing me some significant anxiety.
I consider that waiting over 3 months for MRI scan results is unacceptable.
I have an appointment next week.
