"Medication was left twice next to my mother's bed"

My mother has mixed dementia and after a fall at home was bought into Derriford. The fall caused a bleed on the brain causing her dementia to be a lot worse.

Same story as the previous stay, staff asking questions that she did not know so she guessed. Confusing her with a long list of choices for meals. Nurse told me that her and other patients were not drinking enough fluids but there seemed no effort in encouraging them to drink.

Though most of these ladies could sit in a chair they were not put on a commode but used bed pans once in bed. Medication was left twice next to my mothers bed. I worked as a carer for many years, and would have been reprimanded for this. Yes they are nursing but it felt like some the caring aspect has gone out the window.

Nothing worse than bending over to kiss your loved one and they stink of urine.
