Was referred to Cardio/Respiratory Outpatients Department by GP after getting chest pains. Received appointment within 8 working days, having been phoned to see if I would accept a cancelled appointment that day. Appointment was on time and I was seen by an excellent Cardiac Nurse who decided I required an angiogram and also advised my GP to prescribe additional drugs. Appointment for angiogram was confirmed for 4 weeks later on 4th March. Although chest pains were controlled prior to angiogram in the few days before they had become more regular. After having the angiogram the Doctor advised that I required immediate treatment and was most grateful they were able to fit stents within the next hour. The Doctor, Nurses and Staff of the Cardiac Catheter Suite at WH were excellent and instilled me with confidence by their professionalism and friendliness. My overnight stay in Cambridge K Ward was again met by professionalism and caring and gave me an insight into the work and difficulties the staff deal with. Certainly not all is perfect, but unless the government is prepared to increase spending more in line with most other Western done the Staff European Countries, improvements will be difficult.
Well done the Staff of WH and thank you.
