"Out-patients experience"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / General Medicine (Wards 9-12)

(as the patient),

In February I had to attend the outpatients department for a pre op.

I was sitting waiting and could not get over the staff behavior. They looked over staffed and acting like 1st year students in playgrounds in front of a waiting room full. If they are so over worked why was there about 5 staff acting like children and not quiet about it. It was very annoying to say the least.

Not professional at all. I hope never to return to this department again.

Dear Rocky6491,

I am sorry that your experience of our Out-patient staff was disappointing. It is certainly not a professional standard I would expect from our staff in the clinical area and I will take the matter up with the Senior Charge nurse and staff alike to avoid this type of behaviour being displayed again.

We endeavour to provide a professional and person centered approach for all patients and service users, irrespective of personal or professional pressures.

I do hope that your next experience of our services will be more professional.

Kind regards

Gwen
