I had a broken heart and had a nervous breakdown. I couldn't sleep or eat and the anxiety inside was crippling me. I wanted to die- pacing the hour and finding I'm going mad. But my mum nursed me back to health and gradually I got better but still suffered from the odd delusional belief and I've been sectioned for this about 15 times. I could have let this destroy my life but it hasn't and I work very hard nowadays sitting in committees and forums telling the professions how to run their services. And gradually my self respect is returning. I still think there is a long way to go but turning your bad experience into a good one by keeping others less fortunate than yourself is a good place to start.
