I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes late last year and since then I have found every day to be a challenge.
I am ever so grateful to the amazing diabetic team at Wishaw, and the care and time they have given to me so far. Especially my nurse Katie for being so caring and supportive from the moment I met her. Also Ellen, Lynn and Jackie who provided the foundation course which has given me much more knowledge to control my condition. They made us feel very welcome and relaxed.
I'm motivated to further my knowledge in living with diabetes and as mentioned I have already attended the foundation course that my hospital provided. I am extremely keen to attend the DAFNE course which I am aware NHS LANARKSHIRE is withdrawing from later this year. I know it is being replaced by xpert however from my own research I have found that DAFNE is the recommended structured education programme for type 1 diabetes. Is there any courses running for this before withdrawal, I am also happy to travel to another hospital.
