I have been under the care of the breast care team since summer 2015. I have had two biopsy operations, mammograms, scans and consultations. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer but because of the efficiency and diligence of the breast care team, my cancer is at its earliest stage and the prognosis is excellent. They have never left a stone unturned, always erred on the side of caution and investigated everything fully.
I think the breast team is full of people who care, want to help and strive to do the best possible job for you, (which must be incredibly difficult given the staff shortages and lack of funding). The consultant in charge of the department has always been compassionate and kind, and now as we discuss treatment options their expertise is guiding me in the right direction. My consultant has always taken the time to answer my questions, explain the situation and ensure that my understanding of what is happening is correct. And now as I meet new members of the team, such as the breast care nurse, this fantastic and reassuring care continues, I have their number to call anytime if I need to.
Yes, sometimes they are running late and you have to wait for your appointment, but that’s because the consultants are willing to spend the time necessary with people like me, who have a ton of questions and need reassurance.
I feel that I am currently in an exceptionally safe pair of hands and thank goodness for them, they have literally saved my life! Thank you.
"Excellent Breast Care Team - A very safe pair..."
