"Children's Speech and Language Therapy"

About: Bromley Healthcare / Speech and Language Therapy for Children

(as a parent/guardian),

My 2. 5 year old son, who is non-verbal, has only been seen by Speech & Language twice since his referral, and now we have been told that due to a lack of therapists, there will be no more 1-1 sessions for pre-school children.

Early intervention is so important for non-verbal children, but Bromley seem to have a complete lack of resources. The therapists we have seen are lovely and helpful, and do a great job, but it is infuriating that other areas around the country can offer therapy on a weekly or monthly basis, but yet Bromley has only given my son 2 sessions in a year, meaning we are having to go private.

I wanted to update this posting after you kindly sent us details of your son.

We have looked into all the issues you raised above.

Bromley Healthcare have agreed that your son will be seen for a specialist opinion in speech/language disorders in June and further therapy such as a care pathway considered at this time. We have agreed with you that this will give him time to work on the advice set from his current group therapy.

I hope as a result of your posting we have supported your son and your family in a satisfactory way and I wish you all the best with the hard work of working on the advice given within his group therapy session.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with his therapist if you need further advice.

Kind regards

Amanda
