I would also like to take the opportunity to let you know about my personal experience of the team and my whole journey as a pregnant type 1 diabetic patient.
I haven’t got enough words to express how grateful I am about the support that I received during my pregnancy through the antenatal diabetes team, the midwives and the doctors.
Having had the antenatal diabetes’ team support was absolutely fantastic as it meant that I was in regular contact with medical professionals who understood Type 1 diabetes and were able to support me through out the process.
Having also the consistency of staff, especially two members of staff’s support as well as the endocrinologists’ and the Obstetricians’ contribution was incredibly reassuring.
The two members of staff were always there to answer any questions, offer me a lot of reassurance especially at the beginning when I was incredibly anxious about how diabetes could potentially effect my pregnancy and the health of my unborn child. Having their support and knowing that they were there to answer any emails I had as well as seeing them at the 4 weekly meetings was of great value, they helped me achieve my goals of keeping my a1c at low levels and keep going when things were hard.
"Excellent service and support"
