"Poor in every way"

About: Essex County Hospital

There is only one positive to the Colchester ENT service...that I was referred to another hospital to be seen as they did not have the capacity.

I waited over six months for the call to say they were referring me as they could not fit me in at Colchester, surely they would have known that before they contacted me??

After I was seen for the first time I was told that they would be informed of a suitable time to be seen next, after 3 months. After that time I heard nothing so chased the matter up myself. Every time I called the ENT referral member of staff who was dealing with my case conveniently seemed to be out of the office so I kindly asked if they could get them to ring me back. No such call was received or has been received.

If they had the problems that the patients are having they would not find it acceptable to be not returning calls or not booking second appointments so why do they find it acceptable purely because it is somebody else?

Nobody will take responsibility for the fact three months passed and nothing happened. Even my own GP knew about it and I heard nothing.

I would recommend for anyone to have a private healthcare package and avoid this part of the NHS at all costs!
