I had a broken wrist and went to the Royal Bolton, on G3 where I stayed and at A&E; the nurses were absolutely fantastic (one called Brendan, he was brilliant). They were caring, cheerful, helpful, just wonderful, especially as I was in a state of shock.
On the other hand the doctors, the first consultant (not Mr Warner, who operated on me, he was good) was cold, brusque, humourless and treated me like an idiot. His uncaring attitude made me both upset and angry. Also there was another doctor on A&E who I couldn't understand and who was very unhelpful.
It was the first time I had broken anything and I was extremely shocked and distressed. I had to wait in A&E for half an hour in that condition. It was a very bad break. Brendan the male nurse who took care of me when I went through, who took me for an X-ray and put me on a drip, was great. He kept me informed, chatted to me whilst working on me, reassured me and made my nightmare less horrendous, as did the nurses on G3 later.
The doctor from A&E used techno speak and I couldn't understand him, even if I hadn't been in shock I wouldn't have understood. He appeared not to be interested.
However, the nurse who plastered my arm was very good and reassured me.
Thank you to all on G3. They were all fantastic and Brendan A&E who was caring and reassuring.
