What I liked
the new place is really modern and more comfortable that pendlebury was. i have been coming to the hospital for over 5 years now and the oncology outpatients is so much better than it was-no more waiting on a corridoor. the consulting rooms are much bigger and brighter and the daycase unit is what was being cried out for for all those years.
What could be improved
the overall look of the building. it doesnt look like a hospital for children inside or out. it isnt homely at all. they seem to have gone to the other extreme as pendlebury, although ramshackle and at times grubby, was like an overcrowded family home. the facilities for teenagers and young people here are atrocious. we were promised the world and never once were asked what we might like to see in the new place, resulting in more teenagers sleeping in bays with young children and a complete lack of space for them to relax in on the wards, what was supposed to be a designated teenage room was later changed into storage. pendlebury had better facilities on the oncology unit for young people and we are no longer able to hold our support group on site, due to transport issues and only being allowed a room until 8pm.
"the new place is really modern and more..."
